Commemorates the decisive battle that took place14 September, 1856 on the San Jacinto Hacienda. American 'filibuster' William Walker, then president and self-styled emperor of Nicaragua who hoped to join Nicaragua to the United States as a slave state, was attacked by a small band of Nicaraguan patriots. The locals were victorious, and by May, 1857 Walker was forced out of Central America
